Zinc Picolinate 30 mg is a highly bioavailable form of zinc. Picolinic acid is a natural mineral chelator produced in the body. It is made from the amino acid tryptophan in the liver and kidneys and is transported to the pancreas. During digestion, it is secreted from the pancreas into the small intestine, where it binds to minerals to facilitate their absorption. Because picolinic acid facilitates the absorption of minerals, zinc in the picolinate form is significantly better absorbed than in other zinc formulations. This fine zinc source has an ample 30 mg per capsule and is free of preservatives, magnesium stearate, or other lubricants or diluents.

Cautions

Always take natural remedies under the supervision of your health care provider. Do not use Double Zinc Picolinate (Zinc Picolinate 30 mg) without the advice of your healthcare professional if you are taking antibiotics: zinc can decrease the absorption of antibiotics. Take zinc supplements at least one hour away from antibiotics, including ciprofloxacin (Cipro), enoxacin, or norfloxacin.

Do not use zinc without the advice of your physician if you are taking tetracycline antibiotics as zinc can attach to tetracyclines in the stomach and reduce the amount of tetracyclines that are absorbed. With the approval of your healthcare provider, take zinc two hours before or four hours after taking a dose of tetracyclines such as demeclocycline, minocycline (Minocin), or tetracycline.

Do not inhale zinc through the nose as it might cause permanent loss of smell. In June 2009, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advised consumers not to use certain zinc-containing nose sprays (Zicam) after receiving over 100 reports of loss of smell. Avoid nose sprays containing zinc.

Do not use Double Zinc Picolinate (Zinc Picolinate 30 mg) during pregnancy or nursing unless under the guidance of your physician as there is insufficient data about safe use during pregnancy.
