We prefer this brand because...
Bladder Ease is designed to help manage urinary incontinence by reducing symptoms of urgency and frequency. It provides key nutrients and botanicals that support and maintain healthy tissue response in the bladder. These ingredients also help to improve bladder control and reduce leakage by strengthening the muscles of the bladder and urethra. The ingredients in Bladder Ease can also reduce inflammation and help to soothe the bladder lining, reducing irritation which can be beneficial for those with interstitial cystitis, a chronic bladder condition that causes pressure and pain in the bladder area. The ingredients in Bladder Ease work together to provide wonderful tonic for urinary health and many of our patients in the clinic have seen good results using Bladder Ease.
About this product
Urinary incontinence is common and becomes more prevalent with age. The National Association for Continence estimates that about 25 million adults, and nearly half of women over 50 years old, in the United States have some type of urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence can be due to several reasons. The most common type of urinary incontinence in women is stress incontinence, affecting about one in three adult women at some point in their lives. Pelvic floor muscles can be weakened after pregnancy and childbirth and as a result, physical movements like coughing, sneezing, or laughing can put pressure on the bladder causing urine to leak. The prevalence of this problem increases with age, as up to 75% of women over 65 report urine leakage. Men too can have stress incontinence; it is much less common and can occur after injury or surgery.
Urge incontinence, also known as overactive bladder, is a sudden, intense urge to urinate followed by an involuntary loss of urine. It is caused by abnormal bladder contractions which can be triggered by urinary tract infections, neurological disorders, diabetes, or bladder irritants like caffeine.
Urinary retention causes overflow incontinence which is usually caused by weak bladder muscles, blockages in the urethra or an enlarged prostate the causes your bladder to get too full and overflow which prevent the bladder. Overflow incontinence is more common in men; the most common cause in men is an enlarged prostate, which impedes the flow of urine out of the bladder.
Functional incontinence is when a physical or mental impairment such as severe arthritis, Parkinson’s disease or dementia prevents a person from reaching the toilet in time. Taking diuretics or sleeping pills can attribute to functional incontinence as can physical barriers like stairs and large crowds. It is the most common incontinence for seniors
Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic condition that causes bladder pressure and pain. The exact cause of IC is unknown, but could be due to autoimmune reactions, a bladder lining defect, or infections. It is more common in women, especially women over 30. Symptoms of IC include a persistent urge to urinate, frequent urination of small amounts and pain or discomfort that can be felt in the pelvis, lower abdomen, lower back, or urethra. It can be associated with other chronic pain disorders like irritable bowel syndrome.
Urinary incontinence and interstitial cystitis can significantly impact daily life causing sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression and reduced social activities. Bladder Ease has key ingredients designed to promote bladder wellness which supports overall health, physical and mental.
Vitamin A assists in defending against infections that might affect the urinary tract by bolstering the immune system; it works as an antioxidant, protecting cells in the urinary system from free radical damage and helps to maintain cell integrity, making them more resistant to an takeover of “bad” bacteria. Vitamin A promotes the repair of damaged tissues and cells and also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce inflammation in the bladder and urinary tract.
L- Arginine is an amino acid that supports the urinary tract by promoting the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide improves blood flow to the urinary tract by relaxing the muscles in the blood vessels. It supports the immune system, helping to prevent infections that affect the urinary tract. Studies have shown that taking 1500 mg of L-Arginine daily can decrease pelvic pain symptoms by 48% in patients with interstitial cystitis. This reduction in inflammation and improved circulation can help alleviate some of the discomfort.
Quercetin is a flavonoid that has been studied for its potential benefits for various urological conditions. It is found in fruits like apples and berries, and in onions and green tea. Quercetin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that support bladder health. By reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, quercetin can help alleviate the bladder irritation and discomfort associated with an overactive bladder or conditions like interstitial cystitis as well as reduce symptoms like urgency and frequency. A study published in the “Journal of Urology” found that quercetin significantly reduced symptoms of interstitial cystitis in patients who took it as a supplement. Participants reported decreased pain and improved urinary function.
By supporting the integrity of the bladder lining and reducing inflammation, glucosamine can help alleviate symptoms of overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis. Glucosamine supports the repair and maintenance of bladder lining by providing the building blocks for glucosaminoglycans (GAGS), which are essential components of the bladder lining; a healthy GAG layer helps protect the bladder from irritants and infections. Glucosamine also supports the growth and repair of cells to help maintain a healthy bladder lining.
Due to its antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, Oregon grape can impede many kinds of bacteria, protozoa, and fungi from adhering to the bladder tissues and as a result, they are sloughed off into the urine and eliminated, reducing the frequency and severity of interstitial cystitis flare ups as well as UTIs. Its anti-inflammatory properties can alleviate symptoms of conditions like cystitis by reducing the inflammation in the urinary tract.
Corn silk, the silky threads that you find in corn husks, offers many benefits for bladder health with its diuretic antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Corn silk promotes and increases urine production, which helps to flush out toxins and irritants, potentially preventing bacterial growth in the urinary tract. Increased urine flow may also contribute to reduced fluid retention and a less irritating environment in the bladder, lowering the risk of urinary tract infections.
A common symptom of cystitis and other urinary tract infections is inflammation; corn silk’s anti-inflammatory compounds can potentially alleviate some of the discomfort and irritation associated with those issues. Furthermore, cornsilk is rich in antioxidants that may support cellular health and protect the bladder tissues by neutralizing harmful free radicals in the body which contribute to inflammation and oxidative stress, potentially lessening damage to the bladder wall. Additionally, it has been noted in studies that corn silk may have hypoglycemic effects, assisting in regulating blood sugar levels which is beneficial for those with diabetes, a common condition associated with UTIs. Corn silk is a great remedy for addressing bladder-related issues and for maintaining bladder health.
